Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics
The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is one of the research institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Germany. Fraunhofer IAF is a leading research institution in the field of micro- and nanostructured compound semiconductors. It features an innovative production line for nano- and quantum based circuits, modules and systems. Fraunhofer IAF is responsible (together with Fraunhofer IAO) for the coordination of the Competence Center Quantum Computing Baden-Württemberg. Apart from providing access to an IBM quantum computer located in Germany, the Competence Center is conducting six collaborative projects exploring the use of this quantum computer.
Role within HPCQS
Within HPCQS, Fraunhofer IAF is involved in work package 5 (use case 4): We will develop and perform a quantum chemistry simulation benchmark to evaluate the performance of the quantum simulators.
