Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique
The Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique is a public organization and the largest fundamental research organization in Europe. CNRS carries out research in all fields of knowledge, through its ten disciplinary institutes and more than 1100 research and service units involving about 11 000 researchers.
Three laboratories - IRIF, LIP6, and LMF - will contribute to the project through the umbrella of CNRS, and their respective other home institutions, Sorbonne University and CentraleSupélec.
The objective of this CNRS consortium is to develop quantum technologies for applications in computation and communication. The consortium has a strong expertise in quantum algorithms (general framework for quantum walks, first real-world application of quantum machine learning in recommendation systems, optimization techniques), and verification of quantum computation (pioneers of verifiable blind delegation).
Role within HPCQS
Within the HPCQS project, CNRS will contribute to the high-level programming and software environment. CNRS will develop tools for optimizing the compilation of a quantum programs to the developed architecture. At the same time, CNRS will provide tools for analyzing, verifying and benchmarking developed quantum programs.
CNRS will also contribute to the development of a software library for machine learning applications in the setting of analog computing. CNRS will investigate the potential of quantum generative modeling to explore the potential of quantum approaches for reducing the amount of data needed to learn.
CNRS will also participate to Quantum Techonlogies education programmes and national/European quantum training events in order to develop and deliver training sessions on the HPCQS project technologies and results.
Our vision for HPCQS
HPCQS is the first European consortium bringing together all the actors of the future of quantum computing with the creation of the largest hybrid platform integrating quantum hardware with classical computing resources. I’m proud to be part of this adventure on the behalf of CNRS.
